Me-Vid Evaluation

ME-VID Evaluation

Pre-production skills

During the pre-production part of our assignment we had had to make our own shooting scripts and this was done on a program called Microsoft Excel. The minimum amount of shots we were allowed to have was 80 so I had to think of 80 different and interesting shots to include within the minimum of 80 shots. I learnt how to use a new software and making a shooting script that I can actually follow from this program.

This is a screen shot of my shooting script for my Me-Vid
Another thing I learnt from Pre-production was coming up with creative ideas using different camera angles to make the whole piece look effective. I had to make sure the creative camera angle actually looked pleasing for the viewers who are currently going to view it. I learnt how to get down low with the camera as well as  getting into a high position with the camera etc. I really learnt how to get in different positions with it as it looks pleasing to the viewers.

Production Skills

During production skills I learnt how to use different camera angles to make the shot look more interesting rather than having the  normal  everyday shot. In production skills I learnt how to use jump cuts which will make my piece of work outstanding jump cutting is cutting out all the empty spaces in shots to make it sounds and look more effective.

Another production skill I picked up was using the green screen to make my work more compelling to the people who are watching my production. The green screen allowed me to place myself where I personally wanted to be which I think makes the shot desirable as it makes the viewers attached because your are sharing some of your personal thoughts and feelings with them.

Post Production Skills

During  post production I learnt how to use a program called Live Type this program has
helped me include graphics in my work. For example I would use graphics to introduce the audience to a character I would have writing appearing under or on someone so the audience knows their names. I would also use this when showing the audience when i am talking about another subject.

I also used another program called Final Cut Express this program is good for importing clips and editing them on. I found this program very useful as it allowed me to import and cut videos to produce my final piece. I have learnt how to rewind things from using this program as well as cutting different shots and putting them together.

How will the skills learnt during ME-VID help you in your music video production ?

The skills I think that will help me for the music video is  is creating scripts to follow  as it will keep me on track and it will give me a guideline so i roughly know what I'm doing when i am shooting. I think using scripts are very essential because you cant really get stuck when your filming and you can easily change something if you have gone wrong.

I think camera techniques will help me while I am shooting my music video because I can   get the camera in different angles to make it look effective for my viewers.
